The Las Conchas Fire was the largest fire in the state’s history at the time. The fire began after a wind gust caused a tree to fall across power lines. More than 150,000 acres burned. In 2015, two New Mexico pueblos sued Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative and the U.S. Forest Service for failing “to take reasonable precautions to prevent and suppress forest fires,” according to the complaint.
CaseyGerry along with co-counsel represented plaintiffs in the Las Conchas Fire proving that the two electric utility companies’ negligence was the cause of the fire.
The case was decided in favor of the plaintiffs and CaseyGerry and the partner firms won the case, receiving millions of dollars for those who had suffered as a result.
The CaseyGerry fire team continues to work with victims of fires who suffered due to the negligence or intent of others. If you have been impacted by a wildfire, please contact our fire attorneys to discuss your case at (619) 736-3319.
